Look Who’s Going to RT: Nico Rosso

Nico RossoCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
Hi folks, I’m a sci-fi and steampunk romance author who was introduced to the genre by my lovely and talented wife, Zoë Archer. I have a post-apocalyptic romance from Carina out now: The Last Night, as well as the military sci-fi Limit War series (Taken to the Limit) from Liquid Silver. Later in the year I have a steampunk Western coming from Avon Impulse and a superhero romance from Entangled Publishing.

I can be found at: website | Facebook | Twitter

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
The latest book, The Last Night, is a post-apocalyptic romance set on the Burning Earth. Chained earthquakes have ravaged the globe, stirring up prehistoric viruses that transform many of the humans into stone-skinned mutants called ashers. They love to set things on fire and eat the ashes, including humans. It may sound like a tough place for romance, but it actually sets the stage for my hero and heroine to really prove their devotion to each other.

For The Limit War series (Taken to the Limit), I created an intergalactic conflict between the Dusk, a world-consuming alien race, and the Core Army, an alliance of worlds trying to stem the tide of evil. You’ll find spaceships, alien technology and gritty combat in the Limit War. And you’ll find romance, sometimes with someone being swept into the war by a irresistible soldier, or between two veterans behind enemy lines.

The first steampunk romance from the Ether Chronicles will be coming from Zoë in April, but it is set in a world we created together. She’s telling the European stories of advanced Victorian technology and man/machine hybrids known as Man O’ Wars, while I’m telling the steampunk tales of the American West. What better place to stage a romance than a land where a person’s worth is measured by their shooting hand and steely determination?

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my first official RT. I lurked around last year’s, getting a taste for the fun, but because it was held in our home town, neither Zoë or I were staying at the hotel and were commuting home each night when things were really heating up.

My advice for first timers (and advice I’m reminding myself) is that if you recognize a name on a name tag, don’t be afraid to start up a conversation. That’s what we’re all there for!

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I’ll be hosting the Romance Readers Family Feud (Wednesday, 1pm-2pm) along with Zoë, Tessa Dare, Vivian Arend, and Louisa Edwards. Romance themed survey questions and plenty of prizes! And I hoping to be wearing a very loud blazer.

On Thursday (10am-11am) I’ll be on the Kiss Me, Kill Me: Writing Action Scenes with Hart panel along with Zoë, Laurie London, Ilona Andrews, and Larissa Ione.

From 4pm-6pm on Thursday, I’ll be at the E-Book Expo. Stop by for some swag, or just to chat.

Friday (1:30pm-2:30pm) come to the Carina Press bingo game, where I’ll be with a bunch of other authors, including, of course: Zoë.

Later on Friday (6:15pm-7:15pm), you can mingle with me and tons of other authors at the Avon Indigo Lounge.

On Saturday (5pm-6pm), come teach me how to play spoons at the Candy and Spoons event from Entangled Publishing. I might even give a sneak peak into the superhero romance I have coming from them.

And even later on Saturday (8-9pm) come to the Carina Cocktail Party where we can mingle and you could win some cool prizes.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
I’m a short guy who will more than likely be wearing jeans rather than dress pants. Most of the time, if you spot Zoë, I won’t be too far away.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
