All I can think of is…I’m baack!

My Friend Amy, the mind behind the Book Bloggers Appreciation Week, is looking for panelists for the BBAW Awards that happen in September.  She’s “looking for bookish people who don’t have book blogs. Or bloggers who don’t have BOOK blogs for some help.” I’m not sure what it all entails, but if you’re interested in helping, you can email her at bookbloggerappreciationweek AT gmail.

Interviews:

SciFiGuy found this great cover, done by Chris McGrath, for a novel I haven’t heard of.  Embers by Laura Bickle will be out April 2010.  SciFiGuy has more information, if you’re interested.

SF Signal has cornered a few authors and gotten their take on world building.  Some of the authors you’ll find are Lilith Saintcrow, Kage Baker and Marie Brennan.

Some great news for those following Melissa Marr’s website.  She’s sold her adult fantasy novel, Graveminder, to Harper Collins, which means that it might show up on bookshelves prior to the January 2011 release date I have.

I have to thank Annie from The Royal Reviews for giving Literary Escapism their weekly Inspirational Review Award for the review of Deadly Desire by Keri Arthur.

I have the first book in the Riley Jenson series sitting in my bookcase and this review of book seven made me want to put it right at the top of the TBR pile. Literary Escapism’s glowing review was exactly the inspiration I needed to dive into this series.

I saw this on Twitter earlier (from Smart Bitch Sarah I think?) and I have to say it’s making me wonder about getting a Kindle.  Gear Diary found an interesting policy in the Kindle’s fine print and I have to say I don’t like it.  It seems that even though you buy a Kindle ebook, you can only download it to your Kindle (or any device) so many times.  Now I re-reading books, especially the ones I add to my shelves.  If I’m not going to re-read them, then I don’t purchase them.  Simple as that.

I’m so going to steal some of this from Nicola at Alpha Heroes, but author Sharon Lee has nominated June 23rd to be Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Day: “A day of celebration and wonder! A day for all of us readers of science fiction and fantasy to reach out and say thank you to our favorite writers. A day, perhaps, to blog about our favorite sf/f writers. A day to reflect upon how written science fiction and fantasy has changed your life.”  I don’t have a lot of information on it yet, but if you’re looking for more, head over to the facebook page.

Isn’t the new cover for Mario Acevedo’s Werewolf Smackdown freaking awesome?  It’s due to release March 9, 2010.  I really need to start reading the Felix Gomez series.

I’ve been hearing about this anthology called Inked for awhile, but I haven’t seen a lot of information on it yet.  However, over the weekend, Marjorie Liu revealed that she’ll be contributing a Hunters Kiss story for the anthology.  Inked is due to release sometime in January 2010.

Eos Books has the entire The Scent of Shadows, the first Sign of the Zodiac novel by Vicki Pettersson, available online.

Make sure you check out SciFiGuy’s weekend report.  He has access to a ton more information than I do it seems.  Talk about the amount of news he’s gathered.

And one last bit of news I want to share.  SciFiGuy found out that Kim Harrison has sold three more Hollows novels recently.  That means more Rachel, Ivy & Jenks…yea!

CONTEST ALERTS:
Grasping for the Wind is giving away a copy of Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill plus a bunch of other Chicagoland stuff. The contest ends June 27th.

Stumbling in Chaos is giving away a copy of Michele Hauf’s The Highwayman.  The contest ends at 7pm CDT on June 25th.

St. Martin’s Press is giving away the entire Dark-Hunter collection by Sherrilyn Kenyon.  You have until July 14th to get your name in the hat, but I would do it sooner rather than later.  According to the sweepstakes site, they are drawing the name on July 14th or “about then”.

The contest to win a signed Shiloh Walker novel ends tomorrow night.  So if you haven’t entered yet, you have 24 hours.

Make sure you do come back tomorrow.  I have an interview with Rachel Vincent that will go live and we’ll be giving away a copy of Prey as well.

Bitten by Books and Rachel Vincent is having a massive giveaway to celebrate the release of Prey.  They are giving away a Kindle 2 and 10 copies of Prey, so head over if you want to enter.  The contest ends on July 6th.

I can’t remember if I said anything or not, but Meljean Brook is giving away a copy of Must Love Hellhounds.  The contest ends on July 31st, so there’s plenty of time to enter.  Just don’t wait so long you forget to though.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Thanks for the mention!

I saw that about the Kindle. I’m happier and happier that I have a Hanlin v3/Bebook/Astak EZReader, which is really flexible.

  2. Thanks for blogging about EMBERS! It’s my first book, and I’m over the moon about the cover…hope you enjoy it when it comes out! :)
