Black Friday: A Fallen Angel’s Guide to Surviving Black Friday by Cynthia Eden (+Contest)

Cynthia Eden

BlackFriday.2012Black Friday is here and we’re discussing the season with Cynthia Eden’s Azrael from Angel In Chains.

As a fallen Angel of Death, Azrael is cursed to walk the earth alone in search of redemption. One night, as he wanders the streets of New Orleans, he discovers a woman surrounded by panther shifters. No longer able to contain the anger simmering within, Az summons his dark powers and attacks, determined to protect this innocent human from certain death.

Only Jade Pierce is no delicate flower. She’s spent years learning to survive and fight the evil forces sent by her ex-lover who refuses to let her go. But after seeing Az in action, she figures she could use a little supernatural help. And so she plans a course of seduction guaranteed to arouse his interest and his angelic passions…

Make sure you stick around to the end. We’ll be giving away .

A Fallen Angel’s Guide to Surviving Black Friday

CEden-Angel in ChainsIn my Fallen series, my dark and dangerous angels spend their lives following the duties that are dictated to them. They feel no emotion—at least, not until the moment that they fall. But when those angels *do* fall, when their wings burn away, well, that is the moment when they are swamped with every emotion imaginable.

So…just what would it be like if you were a newly Fallen angel, facing your first Black Friday sale as those department store doors swing open?

Hell on earth might be a good description. ;)

I thought it would be fun to share A Fallen Angel’s Guide to Surviving Black Friday with you. A few tips and secrets that angels can use (Fallen ones, anyway!)…

These tips are coming from the POV of Az, the anti-hero of my latest Fallen book, Angel In Chains. Take it away, Az!

***

Tip #1: Don’t be afraid to fight for what you want. If that Wii U is in your sights, then stalk it. Claim it. Make it yours—and feel no fear as you battle your competitors.

Tip #2: Make no friends in this war. The other shoppers out there? They are after the same prizes that you are. Do not let them slip past your guard. There is no room for friendship in the check-out line.

Tip #3: Only the weak go in unprepared. Coupons? Bah! Learn the layout of your land before the store doors open. Strike fast. Strike hard. Get to that checkout and seize your victory!

Tip #4: Love cannot be bought…but if you purchase chocolates, especially the milk or dark chocolate ones…well, you can often trade for love.

Tip #5: The best sales come under the cover of darkness. Like the other dangerous night predators, your search must begin just after midnight. Forget sleep. It is for the weak.

***

I think I would definitely fall under the “weak” category in Az’s mind. There was no way I could make it out to those midnight sales this year! Heck, on Thanksgiving, I was sleeping by 9 PM. ;)

Do you have any tips that you’d like to share? I’m sure Az’s list could use a few additions!

Thanks so much for checking out my post. Happy Holidays!

Best,
Cynthia Eden

Contest Time!

Thank you Cynthia for taking part in Literary Escapism’s Black Friday!

Cynthia is giving away a copy of Angel In Chains. To enter, all you have to do is answer this one question: What other tips could Azrael add to his list? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered. (US/CA only)

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support the author by sharing their article, and this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

All Black Friday contests will remain open until December 31st at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have. Have you checked out the other Black Friday contests yet? Check out the Master List to see all the Black Friday giveaways

I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Fluid restrict so you don’t have to waste time stopping at the bathroom! Coffee is not your friend. Try caffeinated mints instead.

  2. tip–if you need a cart, tie yourself to it or someone will steal it right out of your hands and well when you have the magnetism that AZ does, smile very nicely at the women and threatning at the men and you will be surprised how quickly you can get thru the line lol

  3. Beware of llittle old ladies. they may look innocent enough, however they are dangerous when it comes to doorbusters.

  4. Hi Cynthia –

Love those tips but number 4 needs some work:) Tip #4: Love cannot be bought…but if you purchase chocolates, especially the milk or dark chocolate (OR ANY TYPE OF CHOCOLATE) ones…well, you can often trade for love.
    Good luck all!

  5. Another tip for Az – ask yourself it those items you want to purchase are really worth it? If not, you can probably go grocery shopping in peace! I would love to see Sam and Celine shopping on Black Friday. :) Congrats on your books!

  6. Mmmmnn…nothing like a shirtless man and a box of chocolates. Tip: order online. Many stores have Black Friday deals in cyberspace as well, and without the risk of being trampled.

  7. LOL… what a fun post! I’d have to add… Treat the isles like an obstacle course. Jumping and dodging is acceptable.

  8. Have a game plan. Know where the important items are located and avoid areas you dont need to be. Wear protection and be athletic in your hunt for the ultimate deals. Brains and brawn baby!

  9. Hi Cynthia!! I don’t know, if Az brought an expensive bottle of wine and an awesome dinner to my house , I’d love him to pieces ! ** LOL ** That blows tip #4 out of the water! I can’t wait to get my hands on the new book. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  10. I take my big boys with me and have them help me nab the good. They are both over 6 foot and are very good at getting through the crowds.

  11. Be weary of the little children that are sent out by their mothers to cut in line. Most people would not repremand or even notice a kid milling around in the line but as soon as it is time to get into the store or check out, the mother will swoop in.

  12. I’d add to tip#3 about being prepared…just like for battle, be well fed and prepared to carry basic/nonhindering rations, be well-rested and physically tip-top for anything or anyone unexpected (do not be easily missiled by what/who seems harmless—all are suspected enemies/rivals), and in planning your attack/layout of your attack make sure you have a back up!

  13. Dress cool, all those people in the store make it quite hot. Have a set list but dont be afraid to grab a great deal you happen to be passing.

  14. know what you are getting before you go into the store, bring a friend to cover more ground faster, avoid the stores all together and shop on-line…the list could go on and on
