Aaaahhhh!!!!!! Anita is heading to the big screen!

Okay, so maybe that was a little much, but seriously. Our favorite vampire hunter is going to the big screen. Laurell K Hamilton announced it at DragonCon….

“I’m thrilled to announce that we have joined forces with a first class Writer, Producer, and film studio. The rumors are true – a movie and a possible TV show based on the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter 16-book series is in the works. Stay tuned to the website for updates and details.”

We made the announcement at the con, so this time the rumors are, indeed, true. But what I’ve put above is all I can say at this point. Someone asked, a follow up question about casting. My reply; I’ve given you the only information I can give you at this point in time. More to come.

Oh you can be sure I’ll be keeping a close watch on this.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I can see a movie being made, but honestly if they made it into a TV show (even on HBO) they would only be able to cover the first of the series – was it around Narcissus In Chains that they became so much sex, so little story? *sigh* I love Anita but I really hope she goes back to being a heroine soon.

  2. Yeah, Narcissus in Chains, Cerulean Sins, and Incubus Dreams were the three sex heavy books. There was still some plot involved, but it all surrounded the sex.

They could so easily do a television series on these books, but you’re right, to get the whole feeling down, they would need to be on HBO or Showtime. Just one more reason to try and convince my husband to get cable.
