Outlandishly Gorgeous

Ooohhh, I found something exciting. It’s so pretty, I had to enlarge it a little more than what I normally put up. It’s a page from the upcoming graphic novel, Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon. To say she’s probably my number one favorite author would be putting it a little mild. I eagerly anticipate each of her novels and I run to the store to by the hardcovers as soon as they come out. There’s one other author I’ve ever bought the hardcover for, and even then, I never ran out the day it was released to pick it up. The seventh Outlander novel, An Echo in the Bone, will be out sometime next year and the graphic novel will be out sometime in 2010. I can’t wait! We can all thank Suvudu for bringing this wonderful treat to our attention.

In other news, the Book Blogger Appreciation Week begins on Monday and there is a slew of prizes to be won. My Friend Amy is having daily contests with some great prizes…check them out:

There are a ton of books being given away and if you want to know what they are, then check out the complete list. There’s even more contests going on at a lot of the participants blogs, including LE, so make sure you check out who’s doing what. At last count, there were 33 of them…that’s a lot of books and goodies.

For Weekly Geeks this week, we’re posting a quote a day, so here are a couple of my favorite quotes from a great source….Cookie Monster!

Doubt thou the stars are fire; doubt that the son doth move; doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love cookie. – Hamlet Act two, scene two, as interpreted by Cookie Monster (source unknown)

Love thyself last: Cherish those hearts that hate thee; Corruption wins not more than honesty. Still in thy right hand carry gentle cookie, to silence envious tongues. – King Henry VIII Act three, scene two, as interpreted by Cookie Monster (source unknown)

I’ve come across some George RR Martin news.  I’ve been told I have to read his novels, and for soem reason, I’m not really having an interest in doing so.  Of course, I haven’t read a blurb or anything from them, but I’ll end up trying them at some point.  Anyway, back to the news.  SciFiGuy shared that Martin has announced that HBO has exercised its option to produce A Game of Thrones for television.  Don’t get too excited yet…this just means that there is a possibility of a screen version, however, it’s still in development and nothing has been planned yet. So while we won’t see anything for awhile, we may at some point in the distance future.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
