Celestina and Ryan Indulge in Midnight Games by Jeffe Kennedy

Jeffe KennedyAs one of the #RUDC15 featured bloggers, I get to start the shenanigans early with a few of the fabulous authors who will be up all night in Denver at Reading Until Dawn 2015 by showcasing their many stories. To help do that, I came up with this really fun idea to having the authors introduce us to their characters and world by showing us what it would be like if they were staying up all night, playing games of their own.

Quite a few of the authors took me up on it and today Jeffe Kennedy has set up a game between Celestina and Ryan from her upcoming Falling Under novel, Under Contract, which releases July 13th.

Midnight Games with Celestina and Ryan

The notification popped up on Tina’s special tablet. The one she shared only with Ryan. Which meant this innocuous question would be an invitation to something likely quite diabolical. He’d know she’d be on her way home from the client meeting, as his driver would undoubtedly have reported in. Friday evening and the girls were headed out of town for a dance competition. Ryan had a dinner with business associates, but no surprise that he had dreamed up something for their weekend alone.

She keyed in her code to unlock the device. They’d gone to a more elaborate, nine-digit password, to keep their ever-inquisitive budding-hacker niece from seeing exactly what they did with the tablets.

The answer? Kinky sex scenarios. Ryan laid out the possibilities, and Tina selected from them. She had to choose carefully because whatever sounded good on screen very often became brutally intense when Ryan performed the acts on her vulnerable flesh.

Maybe. Tell me more.

No. In or out.

No fair, Ryan.

Nothing. She waited a few more minutes, but he didn’t reply. Resolutely she stared out at the late afternoon LA traffic, baking in the heat. Though the limo was nicely cooled, she felt overwarm. Damn Ryan, anyway. She poured herself a glass of the white wine chilling for her and checked the tablet again. Knowing full well she played right into his hands—he knew exactly how to pique her curiosity, and desire—she keyed in her code and replied.

Fine. In.

Meet me at midnight in the library. Bring gambling money.

One of his euphemisms. The “library” contained an ever-changing variety of equipment and toys for him to use on her. When she and the girls moved in, he’d renovated to put it all behind a locking secret panel. He’d been busy in there lately, constructing something new. Very secretive about it.

I need to know more, Ryan.

New module waiting for your opt-in. Looking forward to this, Celestina.

Sure enough, the notification pinged for a new module. As a precaution, she put up the window between her and Ernesto. When she and Ryan began the affair, she’d chosen from his wicked menus of kink, and the program summed up the individual prices he’d pay. Now he’d devised a new twist on that old game. The app listed various casino games—Blackjack, roulette, baccarat—and the rules for each. She’d be issued chips and he would play the dealer or croupier. If she won, she’d receive pleasure, the degree determined by the amount of her bet. Naturally only the maximum bet would allow her to orgasm. If she lost? The various painful torments he listed took her breath away. That same maximum bet would result in some extreme tests.

Her best bets would be to keep them small—no orgasms, probably, but also none of the other extremes. And she could limit them now. Nothing would happen that she didn’t opt-in for.

But who was she kidding? She’d never been a conservative better. She checked every one. Then sent him a message.

All in. See you at midnight.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
