#BlackFriday: Black Friday Shopping With A Dragon by Lia Davis

Black Friday is here and we’re discussing the season with Lia Davis’s Cayden, Nyna, and Kara from Dragon’s Web.

Woodland Creek SeriesWoodland Creek Series – 30 Authors. 30 Shifter Stories

Established author and black dragon shifter, Cayden Rienhardt, has watched over the beautiful and very human, Nyna Carter, most of her life. But he never entertained the idea of more until recently. When an ex-lover from Nyna’s past comes back to Woodland Creek and makes it clear she plans to spend her life with Nyna, Cayden’s dragon forces him to break his silence and make a move to cast his magical web. But he could get more than he ever bargained for in the process.

Eighteen months ago, lone cat shifter Kara Mitchell inadvertently witnessed the murder of her best friend’s parents. When she fled the scene to contact the police, she was captured and held prisoner, forcing her to leave Nyna and her life behind with no explanation. Now that she’s escaped her captors, she returns to Woodland Creek to help Nyna find closure and stop the murderer, but things aren’t as she remembered. Not only is there a rift between her and Nyna, there’s a very sexy dragon shifter complicating matters.

Stuck in a web of lies, scandal, and a tantalizing love triangle, Nyna isn’t sure whom to trust. Her heart wants both Kara and Cayden, but they each have secrets. When Kara reveals that someone close to Nyna is responsible for her parents’ murders, her love life becomes secondary to the investigation. She is determined to find out the truth. Even if it means that her life will change forever.

Black Friday Shopping With A Dragon

LDavis-Dragons Web“Please tell me this is the last store.”

Nyna laughed and caught an eye roll from Kara. “We’ve only been to one store.”

“Exactly. One too many.” Cayden let out a low, playful growl, then leaned down so his head was between theirs and whispered, “I rather be at home with the two of you naked.”

Kara purred. “I’m all for that idea.”

Nyna shook her head. “You two promised to help me look for gifts for the office.”

Cayden framed her face in his hands, his blue eyes sparkled with passion. She almost gave in and went home with them. “We will help you but do hurry. All these people give me the hives.”

Her dragon was a hermit. Well, most of them were. He preferred the quiet and comfort of his own home. “Let me browse this store, then we can go home. You can have your wicked way with the both us. Later, Kara and I can finish up shopping in Woodland Creek.”

“Hey!” Kara squeaked. “I hate shopping as much as him. Why does he get to stay home?”

Nyna narrowed her gaze at her. “Because we have to get his gift.”

A wicked smile formed on her lover and friend’s lips. “Oh, yeah. I know what I want to get him.”

“And you two are talking about me as if I’m not here, again.” Cayden straightened and crossed his arms over his broad chest. The movement pulling his thin, long sleeve shirt tight over is muscles.

Damn. They needed to hurry up and find the trinkets for the office party. Or she’d give up on the idea of the small gifts. The employees were already getting a generous holiday bonus. It was the least she could do since they had to put up with her greedy, bastard of an uncle.

“Let’s get on with it so we can go home.” Kara gripped her hand and tugged her to the limited edition ornaments along the far wall. “These are always great gifts.”

Nyna smiled and her heart warmed. Even if she was the only one in the relationship that loved to shop, it was okay. She had to two best friends, lovers, and life partners a girl could ask for. “I love you, two.”

Cayden wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed her temple. “We love you two. Why else would we suffer this shopping thing?”

“Be prepared to suffer often,” she teased.

Kara hugged them. “We will suffer in silence. Now pick some ornaments out and let’s go.”

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Had to tried to comment, but failed. Nyna is lucky to have two potential bag carriers with her. When I do shop I need the extra hands but my friends are serious shoppers so I can’t depend on help from any of them.
