Weekly Geeks #22 – Archives

This weeks Weekly Geeks is all about the archives.  Those jewels of words written long ago.

Step 1: Choose 3 Weekly Geeks, either from the Mr Linky below or from any of the Mr Linkies in any previous Weekly Geeks, and explore their archives. Try to choose at least one Weekly Geek you don’t know well.

Step 2: Looking through some of their oldest posts, find at least one that you really like from each of the three blogs.

Step 3: Write a post featuring these 3 bloggers, linking to the posts that you enjoyed, with a short blurb.

Step 4: Visit the WG #22 posts of two other Weekly Geeks from the Mr Linky below, and link to their posts at the bottom of yours.

Step 5: Come . So . So back and sign Mr Linky with the url to your specific WG #22 post, not just your general blog url.

So in light of this weeks topic, and the fact that today happens to be the 25th, I decided to visit the month of February 2007 at all of the blogs I’m going to visit.  Why you ask….easy.  My son will be officially 20 months old on the 26th (which is tomorrow) and since he’s the reason I officially started Literary Escapism, it only seemed right.  Twenty months ago, I was huge and waiting for Ian to come.  Ten months ago, I was going nuts from staying home all day with Ian.  I love being a stay at home mom, but there are times where I just needed something to keep my mind a little more stimulated.  So I turned my hobby of book reviewing into this little venture.  So that’s my reasoning on why I’m visiting posts from Feb. 2007 and now here are the three blogs I visited….

Tripping Towards Lucidity – Gotta love the name.  While browsing through Andi’s February archives, I came across two posts that stood out to me.  The first one was Schmoopy post about a band….be ready!, where Andi talks about her long term affection for the Dixie Chicks.  The second one is all about Hermits Anonymous. It may seem like an odd post to relate to, but if you knew my husband, you would know he’s a member of it as well.  I plan outings for Ian and I on the weekends, just so he can have some alone time.  If he doesn’t get it every so often, he tends to get really cranky.

Stephanie’s Confessions of a Book-a-holic – Why am I not surprised that I found another recommendation at a fellow book-aholic’s website?  While going through Stephanie’s archives, I came across her post, Who does Gothic better than du Maurier??? No one!, which is about My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier.  The novel sounds like a classic gothic novel and one I could end up enjoying.  I also found her post What Kind of Reader are YOU?. I love quizzes like these. I did take it and I am a Dedicated Reader.

Biblio File – I was browsing around Jennie’s archives and I’m always looking for recommendations, so when I came across her article, In Case My Recommendations Aren’t Enough, I went to see what she had to say.  When I saw the two books she was mentioning – Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Reason and More Book Lust – my curiousity was definitely piqued.  According to Jennie, these books are nothing but lists of more books separated out by categories.  I wonder if it’s only nonfiction or fiction or both.  I don’t know, but I think I’m going to have to see if my library has these.  I also found a few more books to add to my TBR with her Fables Catch-up – I love twisted fairy tales.

For the last step, I’m suppose to pick two other Weekly Geeks and link to their sites.  Well, why should I just pick two, I’ll include three of them….since that’s all there is at the moment.  As more show up, I’ll post more links.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Congrats! Patrick is 17 months old now, and I know what you mean about finding things to keep your brain going, although I work outside the home as well.
Your blog is rapidly becoming one of my favourite reads. :)
