Look What Santa Brought by A. McKenna

I was in the mood for a quick romance and I just happened to have picked up Annmarie McKenna’s Look What Santa Brought, which was originally published in the anthology The Perfect Gift.

Scott Wyatt knows what he wants for Christmas and it comes in a beautiful-voiced, make-his-heart-race, more than tempting package. If only he could see her.

Tara Patrick needs a man to make her ex see the light. But when her best friend’s gorgeous brother offers himself for the job, she has to say no. How could she possibly use the blind man who makes her heart flutter and not get hurt in the process?

Staring at the business opportunity of a lifetime, Tara finds herself living as close to Scott as one can without sharing a bed. Tara’s ex isn’t happy and he sets out to prove he won’t lose her. But when darkness falls, which man has the advantage, because Scott isn’t willing to let Tara go either.

I loved this story.  With all the romances out there, I love finding the ones that make a point of standing out and Look What Santa Brought definitely does that.  I mean, how often do we have the main love interest be a blind man with a sister who is shacked up with two guys and with kids?  The chemistry between Scott and Tara was perfect.  For two people who have been friends for awhile and didn’t realize the other “liked” them, when the two finally got together, they didn’t play any games or pussy foot around.  It was a smooth transition that worked really well.  It seemed natural and there’s not a lot of people who can do that.

However, I do have one complaint, but it’s a minor one in my opinion.  The story kind of ended abruptly.  I could’ve used one more chapter to wrap up everything because where it did end was a little cliffhangerish.  I won’t give it away, but I definitely felt like there should have been more to the story than what there was.

Overall, Look What Santa Brought was a great quick midnight read.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and I’m almost wondering if there was a novel prior to this one, focusing on Scott’s sister and her two men.  I think I’m going to go hunting for it and for more by Annmarie McKenna.  She’s definitely an author I am going to keep on the lookout for.  You should seriously check her stories out.
