Race for the Cure Contest

I’ve never done one before and when I was asked to participate this time, I said what the hell.  No I’m not talking about having a contest…geez…I’ve had plenty of those. Give me some credit here.  What I’ve never done before is the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  I belong to a mom’s group (best thing ever) and this year we decided to put a team together and participate in the 5K Walk.  I haven’t decided whether I’m going to take the monkey along in a stroller or not, but I figured it would be good for me and I would be helping to raise money for a good cause.

As a participant of the race, I’ve been given a fundraising page, and while I have no delusions of raising a ton of money, I would like to help raise some.  So here’s the deal.  I need to do some cleaning of my book shelves, and I have some nice gems that all need new homes.  Check these out:

Black and White by Jackie Kessler
Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep
Happy Hour of the Damned by Mark Henry
Songs of Scarabaeus by Sara Creasy
Flirting with Forever by Gwyn Cready
an ARC of Smolder by Melina Morel
At the Gates of Darkness by Raymond E. Feist

Plus, the wonderful people at Random House, Bell Bridge Books and BenBella Books have added these great prizes:
Blood Born by Linda Howard, Linda Jones
5 ecopies of Frost Moon by Anthony Francis
5 ecopies of Once Bitten by Kalayna Price
5 ecopies of Twice Dead by Kalayna Price
Ardeur: Writers on the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Series an anthology featuring 14 different writers

That’s 24 books I’m giving away and only 3 of them have been previously read once.  Right now, all but the publisher donated books are currently sitting on my desk and I need to get them off before I get suffocated by the tower toppling on top of me.  Plus, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure can always use the fundraising.  So why not combine the two, right?

In order to get a chance to win one of these great novels, all you have to do is donate $1 by going to my fundraising page.  So this is a shameless plug, but it’s for a good cause and you can use the donation as a tax credit (and trust me, all those little donations can really add up).  For every dollar a person donates, that’s how many entries you’ll receive: $1 = 1 entry, $10 = 10 entries, etc etc.  To get your donation to count, you must email me a copy of your donation confirmation (minus all the things I don’t need to know), using the subject line LE KOMEN CONTEST, and that’s it.  A great cause gets some help and, depending on the number of entries, winners will get to add at least two novels to their own TBR stacks.

I should also mention that there’s going to be 12 winners, each getting two books of their choice.

The contest will run from May 1st to midnight on May 22nd, the day of the race. Depending on how well I do at the race, I’ll announce the winners on the 23rd.  You can donate as many times as you want, just don’t forget to email me your confirmation email.

If you want a couple more ways of getting your name entered…

  • +1 for each place you post about today’s contest on your blog, social network, or anywhere you can. Digg it, stumble it, twit it, share it with the world. Wherever you share it, make sure you add a link to it along with your answer.
  • +1 to any review you comment on, however, comments must be meaningful. Just give me the title of the review and I’ll be able to figure it out from there.

As always, I’ll determine the winner with help from the Research Randomizer and the List Randomizer.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. in addition to my donation, i also commented on destined for an early grave – wasn’t sure if i should’ve put that in the email or not…

  2. I donated from your page in memory of my sister Danni Lynne Wolf Kuhn,
she was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 27 and dies at age 30 with
what the doctors called reoccurring breast cancer. I’ll e-mail my
receipt as soon as I get it. I wished it could have been more but am
glad I had anything to send, good timing. I’m keeping my fingers
crossed that I win as you have several books on your list that’s on my
TBR list which means I have to buy them first. …LOL… isn’t how it
    always turns out.

I sent my copy of the receipt to myjaxon AT gmail DOT com. Hope that’s the right address.

I also posted the contest on Facebook.

This is such an important cause. When my son was 10 months old I was diagnosed with breast cancer. He turned 19 a few months ago. I have been very blessed.
