A Bedeviled and Crimson Fantasy

Some good news bad news for everyone. I’ve heard from all but one winner for the Battle Royale, so now I need to draw a new name. The new winner is: Michele and she has won her very own copy of Flesh Circus by Lilith Saintcrow. Michele, please send me an email at myjaxon AT gmail with your info please!

Found it!  I saw the cover for A Midwinter Fantasy at the RT convention and I’ve been looking for it online.  Unfortunately, Dorchester doesn’t have much about it on their website yet, but what I can tell you is that it will be published on September 28, 2010 and will feature stories by Leanna Renee Hieber, LJ McDonald and Helen Scott Taylor.

Gotta love it when I find interesting conventions in my own backyard.  The World Steam Expo will be going on Memorial Day Weekend in Dearborn, Michigan.

The Premier Steampunk event of the Midwest welcomes you one and all for an event the likes the world has yet to witness. Join us for 4 days of wonder, amazement and splendor as we cater you to an event 120 years in the making. From special guests, unique programming, concerts, contests & more. Memorial Day Weekend, 2010 in Dearborn, Michigan. In conjunction with the Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village. We look forward to meeting you, and your expectations.

Check out what Amazon has as a free Kindle download – it’s Vicki Pettersson’s The Scent of Shadows!  I’m not sure how long this will last, so if you want to snag a copy, I would do it now.

You never know what you’ll find when browsing your favorite bookstores. For me, I was doing a little of that yesterday and check out the cover Annette Blair has for Bedeviled Angel, the second novel in her Works Like Magic series.  The first novel, Naked Dragon, came out in January.  Bedeviled Angel hit shelves August 3, 2010.  Here’s an excerpt for all you curious readers.

Twilight’s Eclipse will be hitting theater soon, but if you want a sneak peek at the movie, BSC has the soundtrack posted.  In Breaking Dawn news, I’m still looking for confirmation, but it seems that the theatric release is now going to be November 21st instead of in December.  As soon as I find the official word, I’ll let you know.

SciFiWire has a list going for the The 10 most awesome sci-fi movies that never were … so far.  I have to admit, there are a few movies on their list that I wouldn’t mind seeing.

Babbling About Books has another fabulous WTFckery or Not? You Decide post up and this time she has some pretty freaky covers.

Dark Faerie Tales will be making the trip to the Book Expo of America and she was wondering who else was going.  Check out who is – Leah Cypess, Lauren Oliver, Allyson Condie, Diana Peterfreund, Rebecca Maizel,

Joey W. Hill has posted the fourth part to her Vampire Queen vignette featuring Mason and Jessica.  If you haven’t seen it yet, here are the first, second and third parts to the story.

Jennifer Estep has announced the title to the fourth Elemental Assassin novel.  The first three – Spider’s Bite, Web of Lies and Venom – will be followed by Tangled Threads.  Don’t expect it too soon though. The publish date isn’t until May 2011.  Jennifer has also posted a rough blurb:

An assassin has come to Ashland to murder me. The irony is that I’m a killer myself – Gin Blanco, the renowned assassin known as the Spider. I’ve had a target on my back ever since I declared war on Mab Monroe, the ruthless head of the Ashland underworld. Mab wants me dead in the worst kind of way, which is why she’d hired Elektra LaFleur to come to town and exterminate me – and the other assassin just might be able to do it. LaFleur is just as ruthless as I am and has electrical elemental magic that’s the equal of my own Ice and Stone power.

Complicating matters is the fact that Mab’s kidnapped an innocent young girl who’s a friend of a friend. Finding her is priority number one. Surviving is a close second, though. Good thing I’ve got sexy businessman Owen Grayson on my side, along with Detective Bria Coolidge. The only problem is that Bria doesn’t realize that I’m her long-lost big sister, Genevieve Snow. And what my baby sister doesn’t know just may get us both killed …

Smexy Books attended a JR Ward online chat on Thursday and she took notes.  Now, be warned, there are spoilers for the BDB world, so if you’re not caught up, then I wouldn’t read.  If you’re like me and don’t care, go check it out.  There’s some good stuff in there.

I totally can’t wait for this one!  Check out the cover for Diana Pharaoh Francis second Horngate Witches novel, Crimson Wind!  Isn’t it gorgeous?  I can’t remember who had it, either Dark Faerie Tales and All Things Urban Fantasy (both have a lot of covers posted), but whoever it was, thank you!  If you haven’t read Bitter Night yet, then you really need to – it was fabulous.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
