Carnal Healing by V. Reede

Virginia Reede’s Carnal Healing is the first book of a seven book series that promises to be truly magical.

Leonore has always known she’s a witch—the direct descendant of the legendary Witch of Caernathen, whose power flowed from the sensual pleasures of sex. After years of searching, Lenore has found six women, each of whom has one of the magical gifts of their mutual ancestress. The circle of seven now prepares to perform the ritual that will restore all of them to the awesome power that is their birthright.

Dr. Jeff Carson thinks Leonore is only interested in a one-night stand. But he soon learns the mysterious woman is impossible to forget, and not only for the astonishing—and puzzling—sensations that he experiences during their lovemaking. For once, Leonore is having a hard time leaving a lover behind once she’s used him to restore her power.

Jeff and Leonore barely have time to explore their new connection when an ancient enemy appears. The Draíodóir, an order of sorcerers who will do anything to stop the ritual from happening, threaten not only Jeff and Leonore’s love, but their very lives.

In Carnal Healing, Virginia Reede (Toni Andrews alter-ego) delivers an explosive spicy romance, with magical elements that will leave you panting for more.  Leonore is a witch with the ability to heal. The hitch is healing someone drains Leonore’s magic. Since Leonore’s magic is recharged by having sex, she prowls her local bars, looking for a man to give her the refill she needs. Suddenly that all changes when she meets Dr. Jeffery Carson, a pediatric oncologist. Before Jeff, Leonore was only interested in one night stands, she didn’t want the strings that came with a relationship, her main concern were her sister witches. However, Jeff is meant to be more than just a one night stand.

Jeff reminded me of the man I always dreamed about as a child, so I immediately fell for him. He was strong and caring, but wasn’t afraid to admit his weakness. I loved that he was a Pediatric Oncologist, that would be such a trying job. Leonore and Jeff seemed to fit together like two pieces of the same puzzle, they completed each other.

Leonore and Jeff have barely had time to get to know each other when a Draíodóir shows up threatening their lives and their love. Draíodóirs are ancient sorcerers, that are enemies to Leonore and her sister witches. Jeff is willing to risk his life to protect Leonore from the Draíodóir, which starts the transformation in her magic.

Carnal Healing is an explosive book with spicy romance, and magical elements that will leave you panting for more. Leonore is a bold and feisty witch who will have you wondering what will happen next. Then there is Jeff who admits he reads romance novels and can cook – I am sure we are all wondering where those men are hiding.  Carnal Healing starts off steady and is a fast roller-coaster ride until the end. The relationship between Leonore and Jeff is swift, you can feel the intense attraction between them and while their is descriptive sex is throughout the book, it wasn’t overpowering.

  2. Where ARE those romance-reading, cooking men hiding? I’ll take two. ;)

Great website, by the way! I hopped over from the Deadline Dames, but I have a feeling I’ll be sticking around to browse for a while.

  3. Wow! Sounds really good. I want to read about the circle of seven and their adventures. I love great sex scenes, I also love a really good villain! Go Draíodóirs!

  4. Cooking can be a lot of fun, but it’d be nice to have a guy to share the cooking with. Sounds like an interesting read :-)
