About Jackie

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

As many of you are aware (or if you’re not), Literary Escapism is hosting the New Authors Challenge for the second year in a row.  Last year, there wasn’t a lot that was done with it, but this year it’s given me an idea for a small mini challenge (and […]

Infinitely No Mercy

20 January 2010 Jackie 1

Check out what I found on Sherrilyn Kenyon’s website. It’s the cover for the next Dark-Hunter novel, No Mercy, and the first Chronicles of Nick novel, Infinity. No Mercy will be released August 4th and will bring together Dev Peltier and the DH Sami. Infinity is the start where Nick is first introduced to Kyrian and will be released June 1st.

Lurv a la Mode is showcasing a bunch of different paranormal romance novels and there are quite a few that look tempting.

This Recording Count Down The 100 Greatest Science Fiction or Fantasy Novels of All Time. It seems that a lot of the novels they consider great were written 10-20 years ago, but there are a few on there that seem current.

Candy Houses by S. Walker

20 January 2010 Jackie 3

I love fairy tales, especially when they’ve been twisted around; so when I saw that Shiloh Walker was writing one involving various Grimm fairy tales, I was excited. The first story in the new Grimm Circle series is Candy Houses and it involves two characters you really don’t hear much […]

19 January 2010 Jackie 0

Continuing with The Eternal Kiss anthology, edited by Trisha Telep, I just finished the third story, Sword Point by Maria Snyder.  I’m a huge fan of Snyder’s Study series, so I was eagerly awaiting to read her vampire story for this collection. I have to say, Sword Point is an […]

Pray & Wait for the Mambo

19 January 2010 Jackie 7

I’m sure everyone has seen these now, but I have to know, what does everyone think?  I’ve seen the covers for the fourth and fifth novels in Jocelynn Drake’s Dark Days series – Pray for Dawn and Wait for Dusk – around awhile ago, but I was kind of hoping […]

Sunday Surprise!

17 January 2010 Jackie 1

Phoenix Noir edited by Patrick Millikin “Patrick Millikin…as if to prove his witty claim that ‘sunshine is the new noir,’ offers one superb specimen, ‘Whiteout on Van Buren,’ in which [author] Don Winslow makes skillful use of a city street at high noon to provide the perfect metaphor for life […]
