Dead Over Heels by MJ Davidson

I can’t say Dead Over Heels is an anthology, but it is. It’s three short novellas, but they are all by MaryJanice Davidson, focusing on her three worlds.

The first story, Undead and Wed: A Honeymoon Story finally gives Betsy and Eric a honeymoon after their disastrous wedding. Everything starts out fine until Jessica and Nick show up. The storytelling is true to the series and has the fun that Betsy is known for.

The second story is Survivors, which takes place shortly after the mer-people came out of the sea. I kind of liked this story just for the fact that it’s told in Davidson’s fun way and it mocks the various different reality survivor shows that are on right now. The story overall is good, but a little predictable.

The final story is Speed Dating, Werewolf Style, involving the shy Wyndam werewolves. I really enjoy reading Davidson’s werewolves and I do wish their were more full blown novels about them, but I’ll take what she’ll write. This story was just as good as all the others. The ending really wasn’t a surprise, but it was fun getting there.

Overall, this book was good and really fun. If you’re not familiar with Davidson’s writing, then Dead Over Heels will definitely give you an idea of her three worlds. There is even a snippet for the next Betsy novel, Undead and Unworthy.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
