Lego Vampire Man!

Ever since I read Nalini Singh’s newly released Angels’ Blood, I’ve been keeping a lookout for other UF novels that involves angels. Thanks to SciFiGuy, I’ve found another one – Guardian by Claire Delacroix.  For more info on this novel, ahead over to SciFiGuy.

For fans of George RR Martin, the idea that an HBO show based on Game of Thrones is a little closer to being confirmed.  Winter is Coming announced that during a a short interview with David Benioff, Benioff stated that they will begin filming in October.

Stacia Kane has a really good article for all those naysayers of UF:

So, lately I’ve been seeing a lot of posts and comments and discussions online relating to the idea that ALL urban fantasy has become samey and dull. That it’s all circling the were-vamp drain, full of designer labels, with the same worlds and characters and plot devices.

I get that some people might think that, but I have to agree with what Kane says, if you don’t go looking for more, you won’t find it. I’m sure you’ll stumble upon a couple, but you still have to be looking for it. When I first started getting heavy in this series, I only knew a few authors – JR Ward, LK Hamilton, and Kim Harrison. It wasn’t until I opened my eyes and started noticing all of the other authors out there that I found the huge market that it is.  Seriously, that’s why I started the New Author Challenge last year.  I wanted to find new authors and I made myself do it.  I ended up reading 53 new authors last year and I still have over a 100 on my list for this year.  Plus that doesn’t count all of the ones I stumble upon.

Okay, I gotta say, I love Legos, but this was great. Check it out, it’s the book trailer for Mario Acevedo’s Jailbait Zombie.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
