In Vampires & Health

Just a heads up, I’ve managed to come down with a slight case of Tracheal-Bronchitis, so posts are going to be a little sparse right now. When I’m sick, I like to spend all my time sleeping and Jesse is going to make it so I can. (Yea for hubby taking care of the kid!) I know I have reviews for Bone Crossed and Magic Strikes to put up and I’m in the middle of Passion Unleashed (which is kicking my butt for some reason), so those will be popping up soon.

Orbit is releasing a new novel called Soulless by Gail Carriger and it looks like it could be really good.

It’s the first book of a new series, set in an alternate-reality Victorian England, where Werewolves and Vampires are a very public part of society. The heroine, Alexia Tarabotti, is an intelligent and sharp-tongued young woman who does not quite fit in with the demure expectations for women of good breeding of that era. I won’t give away too much, but the title refers to her, and this unique lack of soul drags her into the intrigues of both mortal and supernatural London society.

It almost sounds like fans of Colleen Gleason’s Gardella series will enjoy this one as well.

Lauren Dane has posted an excerpt for her upcoming novel, Sensual Magic, which is part of the What Happens in Vegas…After Dark anthology to be released May 1st.

Suburban Vampire has submission information for the upcoming Vampire Film Series and Festival in New Orleans that’s occurring this fall.

I know, I know.  I’ve been very bad and haven’t announced any of the winners from the Terry Spears, Linda Wisdom and Cheryl Brooks contests that have gone on.  I can only blame it on the boys since they’ve been switching being sick for the past 3 weeks and have now gotten me that way.  But, I digress, here are the winners:

  1. Winner of Cheryl Brook’s Rogue is Mindy
  2. Winner of Linda Wisdom’s Wicked By Any Other Name is Chris
  3. Winner of Terry Spears’ Destiny of the Wolf is Jerrica

Anya Bast has a new cover for her September 29th release of Hot For The Holidays and personally, I’m in the mood for candy canes.  The anthology includes Lora Leigh, Angela Knight, Anya Bast and Allyson James.  Anya’s story is going to kick off a new series, so if you’re a fan, I would mark my calendars.

Jeri Smith-Ready has some news regarding her Aspect of the Crow series. We’re talking a new book, so head on over for the goods.

Kmont over at Lurv a la Mode has an interesting discussion going about Covers: To Judge or Not to Judge.  I haven’t had a chance to read it yet (damn Trachea-Broncitis), but I do plan on it, so make sure you leave a comment and let me know what you think.

CONTEST ALERT – Yasmine Galenorn is giving away an ARC of her upcoming Demon Mistress.  The only catch, the contest is taking place on her forum, so you have to be a member there to get in on the action.  The contest closes midnight on March 22nd.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
