And we’re back…

I’m slowly back in the game, hence the long news post today. It can build up. I also have three reviews I’m going to try and get posted today.

Check out the cover for Dev’s novel, Blaze of Memory! The 7th Psy-Changeling novel by Nalini Singh is due out November 3, 2009.

Have you ever wondered if there was a Vampyr F. A. Q. out there somewhere?  Believe it or not, there actually is and it appears to give the idea that vampires actually exist. At least the first couple of paragraphs I read did.  I’m not saying that they do, but from what I read, they are taking a very logical and scientific analysis of certain facts.

Interviews:

The Hugo Awards have announced their nominations, which are presented by the World Science Fiction Society at the World Science Fiction Convention.  This year, the award ceremony will be held on August 9 at the Palais des congrès.

The finalists for the 2009 Sir Julius Vogel Awards, which honor achievements in science fiction, fantasy and horror for popularity and excellence, were announced yesterday.  Nalini Singh was nominated for Mine to Possess and Hostage to Pleasure for Best Novel.

Check it out, the remains of a vampire were discovered on Lazzaretto Nuovo, which is situated in the Venice lagoon in Italy.  The article just goes to prove that there are various ideas of what vampires are and how they eat.  That’s for sure.  Is it me or have we been seeing more of these type of articles lately?  Or maybe I’m just noticing them more.

CONTEST ALERT – YA Reads is giving away two copies of Cassandra Clare’s City of Glass – one to a US/Canadian reader and another to an international reader.  The contest ends March 27th.

Video Hound has the Ten Best Vampire Movies of the Modern Era and no Twilight didn’t make the cut, but quite a few good ones did.

It looks like Melissa Marr has firmed up her Fragile Eternity tour schedule.  For all the details, she has them posted up at her livejournal page.

Here’s another new cover for The Phantom Queen Awakes, a new dark fantasy anthology that focuses on the Morrigan. It’s being released by Morrigan Books on October 31, 2009. Anya Bast has a the table of contents posted over at her site if you want to see what’s going to be included in the anthology.

Jeaniene Frost is now on Twitter.

CONTEST ALERT – Jeri Smith-Ready is looking for another charity. Like she did with Wicked Game last year, she’s looking for reader suggestions for Bad to the Bone’s charity of choice.  For those of you who are new to the game, Smith-Ready donates 10% of her author royalties to a charity for each novel.  Wicked Game’s charity is VH1’s Save the Music Foundation, but this year, she’s looking for an animal-related charity to give the proceeds to from Bad to the Bone.  If she picks your suggestion, then she’ll send you an ARC of Bad to the Bone, so head over and suggest something.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
