Zombie Chickens!

Check out the cover hottness Keri Arthur has for Bound to Shadows, the 8th Riley that comes out October 27, 2009.  Oh yeah, I’m lovin’ this one.

Interviews:

George RR Martin has just sent off a new anthology collection (that he edited), Warriors, to the people at Tor and he has some amazing authors in this collection.  Two of my favorites are there: Diana Gabaldon (with a Lord John novella) and Carrie Vaughn.  This is one book I will be getting when it comes out in March 2010, especially since it involves a lot of unknown authors to me that I have heard great things about.

Have you guys seen this?  It’s a customized Google search engine that does nothing but searches through book blogs.  Since it’s someones project, it doesn’t automatically include all book blogs.  Which means Literary Escapism wasn’t listed, but I did submit my site as well, as all of those ones I normally check out, so hopefully they’ll get added to the site as well.

CONTEST ALERT – Jackie Kessler is giving away a copy of Eternal Lover, her anthology along with Richelle Mead, Hannah Howell and Lynsay Sands.  The catch, you have to analysis her dream regarding Hell’s Belles.  The contest ends at midnight on March 31st, so you have time to think about it, but not a lot.

Check out what Darque Reviews gave Literary Escapism!  It’s the Zombie Chicken Award. Here is what it means:

The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken – excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all…

I’m blushing.  Thanks Kimberly!  And so I don’t come to the attention of the zombie chickens, I’m so spreading the love.  Here’s who I’m sicking the zombie chickens on: Amber Katze’s Book Blog, Stainless Steel Droppings, Suburban Vampire, Tez Says, and Vampire Wire.  I do have to mention 2 honorable mentions – Darque Reviews and SciFiGuy.  Why are they honorable mentions?  Simple.  LE was nominated by Darque Reviews and Kim nominated SciFiGuy.  Yes, I could have included both of them in my 5, but then I wouldn’t have been able to nominated two others.  There are so many great sites out there, so I’m nominated a few who haven’t seen it yet.

Some good news for PC & Kristin Cast fans.  SciFiGuy has news that they were contracted for 12 House of Night novels.  They also announced that the next novel will be titled Tempted and it’s already available at Amazon.  Tempted is tentatively scheduled to be out October 27, 2009.

Check out the fun that Nalini Singh is having with Branded by Fire.  It’s really amusing and kind of easy.

SciFiGuy (or was it Patricia’s Vampire Notes?) has unearthed the cover for the fifth Babylon Vampire novel by Chris Marie Green.  The Path of Razors comes out August 4, 2009.

True Blood has won the Lord Ruthven Award from the Lord Ruthven Assembly, which is a scholarly organization that studies the fantastic in literature, film and any other artistic form.  This year, True Blood won the award as part of the category of Media/Pop Culture, which was presented at this years International Conference on the Fantastic in the Art.

CONTEST ALERT – Larissa Ione is guest blogging over at Novel Thoughts and she’s giving away a copy of Pleasure Unbound.

So yeah, who knew that there was going to be a Where the Wild Things Are movie? Seriously, everyone probably knows what this book is about, so it really doesn’t surprise me that it’s being made into a movie. However, it’s been soo long since I have read it, the trailer actually shocked me as to what it was about. Well, not shocked, but I did forget enough of the book that now I want to go find a copy.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Thanks for plugging the book blog search! Literary Escapism is now added to the search, as are all blogs from BBAW last fall, but I’d like to encourage people to keep sending me sites to add.

  2. Hi Jackie P.C. Cast advised me that the 12 book deal is actually for a range of books some of which have already been delivered and is not exclusively for the HoN series. Thanks for the honorable mention and it was Patricia’s that discovered the cover, I just borrowed from her. On a different note I must have been off planet somewhere when Where the Wild Things Are became a popular children’s book classic. I have never heard of it – ever, which is a strange feeling being so clueless :)

  3. thanks for adding me to the Firefly Books list, Kind One :-)

Heehee! I’m not entirely sure I’m worth risking the wrath of zombie chickens, but thank you, anyway ;-)

And considering Where the Wild Things Are started filming in my Melbourne in late 2006…I knew ;-) I’d forgotten it until people started talking about the trailer, though.

    Have a lovely day! :-)
