Look Who’s Going to RT: Melissa de la Cruz

Melissa de la CruzCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
My name is Melissa de la Cruz. I am the author of many series for teens and adults including Blue Bloods (Blue Bloods) and Witches of East End (Witches of East End).

I can be found at: website | Facebook | Blue Bloods Facebook page | TwitterTumblr

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
The Blue Bloods world focuses on a group of teens who find out they are vampires, and not only vampires but also fallen angels. They’ve lived throughout history as different people in different time periods and reincarnate throughout history. Right now I’m writing the big finale! But there will also be a second cycle with a new story for the series, so while it’s the end, there will be a new beginning.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
No, this won’t be my first time at RT. My advice for the first timers would be to just have a lot of fun–it’s so nice to see friends again and just to take it easy and enjoy it all!

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I will be on panels for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as a moderator and a panelist. I’ll also be at the Teen Day workshops and readings and I’m organizing the party Saturday night sponsored by Disney Hyperion! I plan on trying to see as many panels of the YA track as I can that I’m not a part of, I’m looking forward to everything!

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Um, me? I’ll be the YA cruise director, so just look for the center of the fun. :)

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
