Look Who’s Going to RT: Kimberly Derting

Kimberly DertingCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I’m Kimberly Derting, author of the BODY FINDER series (HarperCollins) and THE PLEDGE trilogy (Simon & Schuster). I live and write in the beautiful, yet rainy, Pacific Northwest. Hmm…what else? You’ll often find me asking teen girls I know (with permission from their parents, of course) if they’d like to be a dead body in my next book. You’d be surprised how many say yes! Sadly, that pretty much sums me up ;)

I can be found at: website | Blog | Facebook | Twitter | GoodReads

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
In the Body Finder series (the latest book is The Last Echo), my main character, Violet, is just your average, ordinary teenage girl who can sense the bodies of those who’ve been murdered…and also those responsible for their deaths, by the unique echoes and imprints that are left on them. As you can imagine this causes a little mayhem now and then.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I was at RT last year, so I was doubly-excited to be invited back again this year. As for advice, make sure you leave some space in your luggage for all the books you’ll bring home. Aside from that, just have fun and get out there and meet everyone you can. And by everyone, I mean readers, other authors, industry professionals, and the event organizers. So seriously, everyone! Can you tell I loved RT???

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
“I’m doing the YA panel: “Murder, Mayhem and Madness: YA ACTION & SUSPENSE” with Kiera Cass, Rosemary Clement-Moore, Kelly Keaton (aka Kelly Gay), and Carrie Ryan, which is moderated by the superbly awesome Melissa Marr. And I’m looking forward to pretty much all of the YA panels. And definitely to TEEN DAY, which was a smashingly huge success last year!!!”

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
I’ll be the one ninja-stalking all of my favorite authors wherever they may be. You know, waiting in lines to meet them, attending their presentations and panels, or just sliding their books underneath the stalls in the bathroom for an autograph. You know, pretty standard stuff.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Ha, ha! I’m more surprised that some people would actually say no to being a dead body in one of your books. Really enjoy the Body Finder series.
