Look Who’s Going to RT: Molly Harper

Molly WhiteCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I am a newspaper-reporter-turned-church-secretary-turned-romance-novelist and author of the Nice Girls vampire series and the Naked Werewolf series. A lifelong lover of all things weird, it was a natural fit for to write paranormal romance stories. I do occasionally venture into the world of contemporary romance, as I have with my recently debuted Bluegrass series.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, David, who serves as the inspiration for most of my leading men. We have two children and live in our hometown in western Kentucky. For more information on me or my titles, go to mollyharper.com.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This is my third RT convention. I love it because as a writer, I get to connect with people in my field and see the writing friends I’ve made online “face to face.” And as a reader, I get to have squealing fan-girl meltdowns over the authors I love so much.

My advice? COMFORTABLE SHOES. And if you’re an author, have plenty of business cards to swap because you’ll want to reconnect with the people you meet once you get home.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I will be speaking on the following panels:

  • Blood Light (Vampire Humor) – with Cat Adams, Jeaniene Frost, Susan and Clay Griffith, Molly Harper, Jeri Smith-Ready, and Elisabeth Staab. Moderated by Caridad Pineiro.
  • The Long Kiss Goodnight- Waiting for That HEA – with Ilona Andrews (Ilona and Gordon Andrews), Molly Harper, Pamela Palmer, Rachel Vincent. Moderated by Jeaniene Frost.

Obviously, I’m excited about them, because I love talking to people who write in my genre! And I will also help host the VAMPIRE SOCIAL: Meet, Greet and Play, with a bunch of other vampire authors. Please stop by to win goodies and have a bloody Mary!

Each year, I carefully schedule which panels I’m going to go to before I arrive. And each year, I end up distracted by shiny objects, lunch invitations or other panels that suddenly sound awesome, and my schedule changes completely. This year, I’m just going to play it by ear.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Last year, I walked around with my skirt tucked into panty hose for most of the first day, which is something I’m going to try to avoid this year. You might try looking for a really tall brunette traveling with her equally tall mom*. The good thing is that everybody wears nametags and the authors are denoted with some attention-getting object so you know to look for them. Last year, it was brightly colored flowers. If you see me, just shout and I’ll be happy to meet you.

Very excited that my mom is coming. She’s a life-long romance reader – whose forbidden linen closet of books got me into the genre in the first place – and she’s never been before.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
