Look Who’s Going to RT: Saranna DeWylde

Saranna DeWylde

Saranna DeWyldeCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I wrote my first story after watching The Exorcist at a slumber party. Since then, I’ve published horror, erotica, romance and narrative nonfiction. Like all writers, I’ve held a variety of jobs from an operations supervisor for an airline, to an assistant for a call girl, to a corrections officer. But like Hemingway said, “Once writing has become your major vice and greatest pleasure, only death can stop it.” So I traded in my cuffs for a full-time keyboard.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
I wrote the 10 Days series (How To Lose a Demon in 10 Days) and it’s a world full of magic and hijinks where good and evil aren’t so clearly defined.

I also wrote a series about modern interpretations of gods and goddesses. The first book in that series is called Desperate Housewives of Olympus and by the time RT rolls around, the second book, Desperate Housewives of Avalon should be out.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I’ve been to RT before, but I wouldn’t call myself a veteran. I’ve only been once, but I had a fantastic time. I think the best thing you can do for yourself is don’t overschedule. Allow down time. There are so many people, so much going on that it’s easy to get overstimulated.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I’ll be at the Kensington panel as well as Hero Speed Dating. As for attending panels, I’m not sure which ones I’m going to attend. I like to take conference on a day by day basis.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
The 6ft Amazon with a werewolf tattoo on her left bicep and the raven on her right. I normally wear this awesome zombie shoes, so people know to look for those, but I wore them out.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
