Look Who’s Going to RT: Shawntelle Madison

Shawntelle Madison

Shawntelle MadisonCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
Hi, I’m the author of the Coveted series (Coveted) from Ballantine Books. I love to write about quirky supernatural characters and their adventures. I spend way too much time on the computer and live in Missouri with my husband and children.

I can be found at: website | Blog | Facebook | Twitter | GoodReads

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
In my Coveted series, I feature supernaturals with problems like ours, but in the most unexpected situations: a hoarder werewolf, a mermaid who afraid of the ocean, and even a muse who is afraid of her authors. The first two books in my series are narrated by Natalya Stravinsky, a hoarding werewolf who wants to rejoin her pack and reunite with her former boyfriend from five years ago. My next book will be a novella featuring Nat’s outspoken friend Aggie.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I went to RT last year and had a blast. I had so much fun and I can’t wait to go again. Especially since it will be in Missouri. I can drive there and have so much more room for the books I plan to bring back. For first timers, I say take your time. A lot is going on, but don’t feel pressured to attend everything.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I’m speaking on three panels at RT: True Colors: Writing Diversity For a Diverse Audience, The Research Notebook from Hell — Keeping Your Series Organized, and Mermaids and Monsters: Making Myths Come Alive. I have a busy Thursday planned. I’m looking forward to the Mermaids and Monsters panel. In my books, I love to add creatures normally not portrayed in books and make them come alive with real problems.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Good question. I tend to enjoy hanging out at RT so look for the nerdy chick with glasses at the bar.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
