Look Who’s Going to RT: Yasmine Galenorn

Yasmine Galenorn

Yasmine GalenornCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
Well, here’s what my bio says: New York Times, USA Today, and Publisher’s Weekly bestselling author Yasmine Galenorn writes urban fantasy for Berkley: both the Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon Series (Witchling) and the Indigo Court urban fantasy series (Night Myst). Before too long, she’ll be writing a spin-off series set in Otherworld as well. In the past, she wrote mysteries for Berkley Prime Crime, and nonfiction metaphysical books. You can reach her at her website, Twitter, and on Facebook

Here’s what my bio doesn’t say: I’m a total caffeine junkie, love antlers, daggers, Old Country Roses china, and am covered with —I’m a tattooed shamanic witch who’s been in the Craft over 33 years (which of course, means I was very very young when I first became involved—yes, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!!!). I live in Kirkland, with my husband and pile o’cats who are the key to my sanity.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
I currently write two urban fantasy worlds—the Otherworld Series, where three half-human half-Fae sisters, Camille (Witchling), Menolly (Darkling), and Delilah (Changeling) take on a demonic war, along with their friends, lovers, and family of choice. And I write a dark faerie tale world—the Indigo Court series (Night Myst), where Myst, vampiric Fae Queen of the Indigo Court, strives to bring the eternal winter to cover the land. Cicely Waters, wind witch, owl shifter, and heir to the Throne of Winter, must lead the fight against Myst and her Shadow Hunters. Both series are set in contemporary, parallel Seattle WA. Both series are adult, with explicit sex.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
No, I was at RT last year and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Advice for newcomers? Plan a little down time—there is so much going on, it’s easy to exhaust yourself. And if you see your fave authors in the hall, feel free to come up and say hi to them. That’s why we’re there!

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I’m leading two panels– Shifters, Weres, Vamps & Fae: We Love Our Nonhuman Characters (with Alyssa Day, Jeaniene Frost, and Jennifer L. Armentrout); and The Research Notebook from Hell: Keeping Your Series Organized, (with Lynda Hilburn, Michelle M. Pillow, and Shawntelle Madison). I will also be participating in two other panels– Fated To Be Mated and That Old Black Magic. AND…I will be part of a vampire social—Vampire Social, Meet, Greet & Play. And, of course, I will be signing books at the Giant Book Fair. So I’ll be very, very accessible!

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
The woman in the retro but goth 50s dresses and/or corsets, covered with tattoos and wearing full makeup. *grins* I’m a makeup junkie, I always wear dresses, and I’m heavily, heavily inked.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
