Books for Nonprofit

If you guys missed Nalini Singh chatting it up over at the Knight Agency on Thursday, never fear…you can check out the transcript here.

I was just steered to the NonProfits Shopping Mall and it’s actually a really good idea.  Basically, it’s a bunch of retailers who have pledged that they will contribute a portion of their sales to either one or a varity of charitys.  For instance, do you want to get the new Laurell K Hamilton when it comes out on Nov. 4th?  Then head on over to NonProfits Shopping Mall, click on Amazon and go through the process.  Amazon will give 2% of your final order to the charity of your chosing or whichever one is in the spotlight this month (which happens to be the Susan G Komen for the Cure); it’s not much, but if a ton of people use it, then it can add up.

Interviews:

  • J.K. Potter, illustrator of genre books, by Genreville
  • Loucinda McCary, author of the Wild Sight, by Much Cheaper Than Therapy
  • Jackie Kessler, author of the Hell on Earth series, by Amberkatze – Amber is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month with her contest this week, so make sure you head over there and enter.
  • Jeaniene Frost, author of the Night Huntress series, by Books Books and More Books
  • Ann Macela, author of the magic series, by Bitten by Books – there is also a contest going up for an autographed complete set of Macela’s Magic series.
  • Tomas Alfredson, the director of the Swedish vampire flick Let the Right One In, by the Los Angeles Times

Lynda Hilburn (Dark Harvest), Esri Rose (Bound to Love Her), and Carrie Vaughn (Kitty Norville series) will be doing a book signing at the Boulder Bookstore in Boulder, Colorado on Wednesday, October 22nd at 7:30pm.  For more information, check out the store’s event calendar.  I would regardless if you can make it or not.  They seem to have a lot of author signings.

Thanks to Sidhe Vicious, she pointed me towards a couple of new covers.  We’ve already seen Nalini Singh’s cover for Angel’s Blood and Tate Halloway’s Romancing the Dead.  However, here are a couple new ones:

  • Kiss & Hell by Dakota Cassidy (above), which comes out June 2009;
  • the third in Cassidy’s Accidental series, The Accidental Human, which will be released March 2009;
  • Terri Garey’s You’re the One that I Haunt, the third novel in the Nikki Styx series, which comes out February 2009;
  • and last is a new to me, VK Forrest’s Undying, the second novel in the Clare Point series, which comes out December 2008.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
