Mortal Sins & Other Fun Stuff

To start off, I get to announce the winner for a copy of Mary E. Pearson’s The Adoration of Jenna Fox.  This was Tez’s favorite book (of the moment) and now YAN gets to enjoy it as well.  Congratulations Yan!  I have to agree with you.  I tend to go by covers as well, especially when I’ve never heard of the author before.

If you want to see Lynda Hilburn, Mario Acevedo, and Jeanne Stein, then you should check out Vampire Night! at the Douglas County Library in Colorado.  These three great authors are going to be there on tonight (10/29) from 7-9pm.  For more information, click here.

Melissa Marr, Jeaniene Frost, Mark Del Franco, Jocelyn Drake, Vicki Pettersson, and Holly Black are all going to be talking about faeries, vampires and everything else that is paranormal tomorrow night (10/30) over at Blog Talk Radio.  The show will air at 3pm, but whether that’s eastern, central, or pacific time, I have no clue.

Interviews:

There’s a blurb up for Eileen Wilk’s next novel, Mortal Sins.  She also has an excerpt available, but here’s the blurb.

You’ve been following Lily & Rule through a few stories now, so you know that sometimes worlds collide literally in my books. In MORTAL SINS, the worlds involved are more personal. Every time two people fall in love, there’s a collision—the need to blend furniture, jobs, beliefs. . . and families. A permanent bond between a couple means their families are joined, too, for better or worse.

Lily and Rule are in North Carolina because Rule has a son, and Toby’s grandmother has at last agreed to back Rule’s bid for custody. It’s a purely personal trip until Rule, in wolf form, finds three bodies in a shallow grave.

Murder, however bizarre, is nothing new for Lily, and the taint of magic makes this her case. But the investigation refuses to remain just business, taking a terrible turn towards the personal as the violence escalates, and there’s no rhyme or reason for the next strike . . . and the next.

Congratulations to Jeri Smith-Ready.   Her novel, Wicked Game, won the New Jersey Romance Writers 2008 Golden Leaf Award for Best Paranormal.

Urban Fantasy Land has a few links that might be of interest to people: Wednesday Links for Writers 2008.10.29; Urban Fantasy Week: a recap (it appears to be a good size list of free online stories); and Links for Writers bonus: Getting Ready for NaNoWriMo.  Jesse is participating in this (only 63 hours left until crunch time begins), so I’m going to have to make sure he sees these.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
