Black Magic Sanction by K. Harrison

11 March 2010 Tricia 4

The latest installment of Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan/Hollows series, Black Magic Sanction was just as awesome as the rest of the series. Rachel Morgan has fought and hunted vampires, werewolves, banshees, demons, and other supernatural dangers as both witch and bounty hunter—and lived to tell the tale. But she’s never […]

Moon Rise by M. Brothers

14 February 2010 Karyl 3

I don’t usually like to read a sequel before reading the first book in a series because you tend to miss pertinent aspects of the story, however, that wasn’t really necessary when I picked up Moon Rise, the second book in the Unbidden Magic series. Moon Rise by Marilee Brothers […]

Spider’s Bite by J. Estep

25 January 2010 Jackie 3

I’ve seen the name Jennifer Estep around for awhile, but she’s been another one of those authors I haven’t had a chance to get to.  However, when I was offered the chance to review her upcoming novel, Spider’s Bite, I wasn’t about to turn it away, which happened to be […]

Deadtown by N. Holzner

28 December 2009 Jackie 6

When I first saw the cover for Nancy Holzner’s Deadtown, I was intrigued. I saw this great cover with lots of promise, and I have to say, it definitely delivered. They call it Deadtown: the city’s quarantined section for its inhuman and undead residents. Most humans stay far from its […]

The Better Part of Darkness by K. Gay

5 December 2009 Jackie 2

I’ve had a copy of Kelly Gay’s debut novel, The Better Part of Darkness for a bit now, but have you ever gotten into a mood where you know it won’t help with a certain novel. I very much went through a straight romance-wanting stage and I knew my frame […]

Hex in High Heels by L. Wisdom

12 November 2009 Jackie 4

The fourth novel in Linda Wisdom’s Hex series, Hex in High Heels is a fabulous read and totally captured me from beginning to end. In this sexy, funny paranormal romance by bestselling author Linda Wisdom, it’s all beautiful witch Blair Fitzpatrick can do to keep a lid on her talent […]

Three Days to Dead by K. Meding

11 November 2009 Jackie 3

The first novel in Kelly Meding’s new Dreg City series, Three Days to Dead, is a fabulous read and a great addition to the urban fantasy genre. She’s young, deadly, and hunted—with only three days to solve her own murder… When Evangeline Stone wakes up naked and bruised on a […]

Bitter Night by DP Francis

9 November 2009 Jackie 4

I’ve been hearing a lot about Diana Pharaoh Francis’ Bitter Night, the first book in her new Horngate Witches series, and at first I wasn’t sure what to think about it. Now that I have had my hands on a copy, oh yeah, I cannot wait until the second novel comes out.

I think what stands out the most for me is the fact that this isn’t another urban fantasy about vampires or shapeshifters, but something else with witch thrown in. Witches are the powerhouses here, but they surround themselves with Shadowblades and Sunspears who can be just as powerful in their own right.

Friday Night Bites by C. Neill

11 October 2009 Jackie 4

I just finished Friday Night Bites, the second Chicagoland Vampires novel by Chloe Neill and I was instantly sucked into it. Ten months after vampires revealed their existence to the mortals of Chicago, they’re enjoying a celebrity status usually reserved for the Hollywood elite. But should people learn about the […]
