Contest: Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews

IAndrews-Gunmetal MagicContest is closed!

Thanks to the wonderful people at Penguin, I happen to have a shiny new copy of Ilona Andrews’ Gunmetal Magic to give away.

Some people have everything figured out — Andrea Nash is not one of those people. After being kicked out of the Order of Knights of Merciful Aid, Andrea’s whole existence is in shambles. All she can do is try to put herself back together, something made easier by working for Cutting Edge, a small investigative firm owned by her best friend, Kate Daniels.

When several shapeshifters working for Raphael Medrano — the male alpha of Clan Bouda and Andrea’s former lover — die unexpectedly at a dig site, Andrea is assigned to investigate … and must work with Raphael. As her search for the killer leads her into the secret underbelly of supernatural Atlanta, Andrea knows that dealing with her feelings for Raphael might have to take a backseat to saving the world …

Meet Ilona Andrews!

Ilona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Texas with their two children, and many dogs and cats. They have co-authored two series, the bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels and romantic urban fantasy of The Edge.

Contest Time!

To enter for a chance to win Gunmetal Magic, all you have to do is answer this one question: Which Kate Daniels character do you like and why? Who would you like to see find their special someone? If you haven’t read the series yet, what is drawing you to it? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

Even though I’m not giving the additional entries any more, you can still help support Ilona by sharing this contest, on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, or anywhere you can. After all, the more people who are aware of this fabulous author ensures we get more fabulous stories.

The winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.

The contest will stay open until July 31th at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Kate is my favorite character and I can’t for Jim to find his special someone *ahem* Dali LOL.

  2. im gonna have to go with Derek finding his special somebody… and Curran is my fav. ( i especially love currans POV stories)

  3. I love that the supporting cast is getting their own stories. Raphael and Andrea. Jim and Dali. Next up, I want to see Doolitle in action. Considering the amount of sarcasm he exerts on Kate, the running commentary in his head must be magnificent.

  4. Don’t know if this is open to UK or not, but I have to profess my love for this series and join in with some fangirling. ;-)
My favourite character would have to be Kate because:
    1. She has a sword.
    2. Her sword has a name. Her SWORD has it’s own name. (Squee!)
    3. She has managed to tame Curran. (at least partially, at specific events, for a few seconds at time…..Sometimes)
    4. She’s funny and oh-so-sarcastic.
    5. She kicks arse. (girl power!)
    6. She’s learned to let people love her and to love them. Considering her background with her father, that’s a BIG thing for her.

And Derek needs his HEA next, especially after the events of Magic Strikes, he deserves it.

  5. Derek is by far my favorite character in the Kate Daniels world and I was devastated when he was injured so badly. What’s not to love? He’s funny, fierce, loyal, protective, and seriously hot. If anyone deserves a HEA it’s Derek.

  6. Which Kate Daniels character do you like and why?
I really like Kate, because I see a lot of myself in her.

Who would you like to see find their special someone?
    Derek. I think it’s about time :D

  7. Only one? I have to go with Dali. She is fun and spunky. I loved the novella with her and Jim. Great story.

I can’t wait for Derek to end up with his special someone. Hope it is, who I think it is. :D

  8. Only one? I have to go with Dali. She is fun and spunky. I loved the novella with her and Jim. Great story.

I can’t wait for Derek to end up with his special someone. Hope it is, who I think it is.

  9. Julie. There is so much potential in this kid. I easily see a YA spinoff with her as the lead. She is certainly as strong as her guardians.

  10. I have yet to read the book or series but have been looking at the covers in the book store. The covers are very interesting to me. When I make a decision to buy a book I have either read one from a friend then went and bought my own series or have had the book highly recommended to me. There are just so many books out there and I have bought books that looks good but were just very hard to get into. I tend to re-read my books over and over and if I’ve spent money on a book and can’t finish it or read it again, for me it’s kind of waste of space on my bookshelves.

  11. Kate. No question about it. She is strong, fails every once in a while, and isn’t afraid to be afraid. She’s not perfect but she does her best and has a big heart.

As for who I’d like to find their special someone, I must agree with so many others and say Derek. What happened to him broke him, and he deserves to be happy again.
