Weekly Geeks #18 – Catch Up

So Weekly Geeks this week is to catch up on everything we need to do. For me, that’s actually a lot this week.

First off, I have this one book that was sent to me to review and I’m just not getting into it. It could be really good, but my mind is just not there. I’m tempted to write the publicist back and let her know that I’m going to put this off for just a bit since my head isn’t in the right place and I want to be able to do it justice. What should I do? Put it off until I’m in a better frame of mind or sludge through it and write the review? Either way, I need to figure out what I’m going to do.

Next on my list is the house. My husband and I moved in this summer and we’re having our open house this weekend to show it off. This means that I need to go through and clean the house. We have hardwood floors, so that also means mopping the house from top to bottom. There’s also a ton of food to make and prepare. Chocolate cheesecake, macaroni salad, salsa, guacamole, and more. Thankfully my son is going to go visit with his grandfather for the latter part of the week, so that’ll be a huge help.

I recently received a box full of books from my mother to use as currency on Bookmooch and at used book stores and there are a couple that I wanted to re-read. However, after taking a serious look at my TBR stack, there is no way I can go through and re-read them anytime this year. So instead, I plan on writing some quick reviews and then adding them to Bookmooch.

Speaking of all the books I’ve been putting up at Bookmooch and all the new ones, I need to go through what I have and update my inventory. I’m kind of an organized freak and have all our books in a database with all sorts of information. So I need to do an audit on all of my books. I doubt I’ll get to it this week, but it is something I need to do.

Okay, so I think that’s my list for this week. If I add any more to it I know I won’t get it all done. I’ll let everyone know how I did at the end of the week.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I actually have a really good way to inventory my books. I use a program called Tellico and it syncs up to Amazon, the Library of Congress, and other book sites so I can download all the information needed. I have to go and update all of my books and do the audit like I mentioned, but here’s my inventory.

I actually use Tellico to categorize my Dvds, comics, and CDs as well. I also have my cookbook stored in this program. It’s really nice.
