Kiss of Midnight by L. Adrian

So I just finished Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian, which is the first novel in the Breeds series. At first, the book reminded me a lot of Angela Knights Mageverse novels. Not the writing, but how the vampires came to be on earth. The first ones were aliens that crashed landed on earth and interbred with humans. Only men can be vampires and they are dependent on finding breedmates in order to reproduce; and the breedmates are taken from their lives and moved to the Breed society. A little different than the Mageverse, but there are still some similarities.

Overall, the novel was good. The romance between the hero and heroine was hot and there were definitely some emotion hurdles that they both made the other jump through to add some spice to the chase. The plot wasn’t hurried, however it never slowed down. It kept you interested enough to keep reading until the end. This review may be a little choppy, but that’s mainly due to the fact that I read this book while battling a head cold. This book kept my attention while I am battling my sinuses, so it’s definitely worth a read.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
