Contest: Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs

PBriggs-Frost Burned

It’s almost here! The next Mercy Thompson novel by Patricia Briggs, Frost Burned, releases on March 5th and thanks to the wonderful people at ACE, I have a copy to giveaway today.

PBriggs-Frost BurnedMercy Thompson’s life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman—the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack—has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more…

After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam—or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They’ve all been abducted.

Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related—and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.

Mercy Thompson series

PBriggs-Moon CalledMoon Called

Mercy Thompson’s life is not exactly normal. Her next-door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she’s fixing a VW bus for a vampire. But then, Mercy isn’t exactly normal herself.

PBriggs-Blood BoundBlood Bound

Under the rule of science, there are no witch burnings allowed, no water trials or public lynchings. In return, the average law-abiding, solid citizen has little to worry about from the things that go bump in the night. Sometimes I wish I was an average citizen…

Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places-and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind.

But this new vampire is hardly ordinary-and neither is the demon inside of him.

PBriggs-Iron KissedIron Kissed

I could smell her fear, and it satisfied something deep inside me that had been writhing under her cool, superior gaze. I curled my upper lip so she could get a good look at my sharp teeth. I might only weigh thirty or so pounds in my coyote shape, but I was a predator…

Mechanic Mercy Thompson can shift her shape – but not her loyalty. When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it’s up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not.

Mercy’s loyalty is under pressure from other directions, too. Werewolves are not known for their patience, and if Mercy can’t decide between the two she cares for, Sam and Adam may make the choice for her…

PBriggs-Bone CrossedBone Crossed

In a world where “witches, vampires, werewolves, and shape-shifters live beside ordinary people” (“Booklist”), it takes a very unusual woman to call it home. By day, Mercy Thompson is a car mechanic in Eastern Washington. By night, she explores her preternatural side. As a shape-shifter with some unusual talents, Mercy’s found herself maintaining a tenuous harmony between the human and the not-so- human on more than one occasion. This time she may get more than she bargained for

PBriggs-Silver BorneSilver Borne

Being a mechanic is hard work. Mercy Thompson, for instance, just spent the last couple of months trying to evade the murderous queen of the local vampire seethe. And now the leader of the werewolf pack, who’s maybe-more-than-just-a-friend, has asked for her help. A book of fae secrets has come to light and they’re all about to find out how implacable – and dangerous – the fae can be.

OK, so maybe her troubles have nothing to do with the job. But she sure could use a holiday…

River MarkedRiver Marked

Coyote shifter Mercy Thompson knows that life with her mate, the Alpha werewolf Adam, will never be boring,, but even their wedding doesn’t go as planned. Nevertheless, a ten-day honeymoon camping on the banks of the Columbia River, alone, just the two of them, should make up for it. But the trip – and the pimped-out trailer they’re using – is courtesy of the fae. And nothing from the fae comes without strings attached…

Being a different breed of shapeshifter – a walker – Mercy can see ghosts, but the spirit of her long-gone father has never visited her. Until now. An evil is stirring in the depths of the Columbia River – and innocent people are dying. As other walkers make their presence know to Mercy, she must reconnect with her heritage to exorcise the world of the legend known as the river devil…

  1. I think the Fey took them in hopes that they will join them in retreating from humanity. It would take pretty powerful beings to kidnap and entire pack.

  2. I think that they are being held by government officials who are trying to regulate the wolf packs and Adam is in pain from trying to stop them from when they raided the house.

  3. What do you think has happened to Adam and the pack? Why are they in pain and who has them?

Looking at how the last book ended, I’m guessing the fey are behind it! The pack may be in pain because they were injured in the abduction.

OR….. a group of fangirls have them :) Those girls are vicious. It would be very painful.

Really looking forward to the book!! I’ve been waiting with baited breath for the release.

  4. What do you think has happened to Adam and the pack? Why are they in pain and who has them? I think someone is experimenting with them and for that reason they are in pain. It might be the government or someone who wants to learn how the pack bonds work in order to create super powerful humans. It could be something similar at what happened to Wolverine on X-Men. :P

  5. What do you think has happened to Adam and the pack? Why are they in pain and who has them?

I believe that the Fey is involved because they are always involved. They are most likely in pain due to having their senses cut off from the outside world.

  6. There are way to many flaws in all my theory’s that I keep going back and forth between government and the Fae that I’m going to go out on a limb and say it will be someone we least expect and totally can’t even guess! But either way Adam is in pain from being tortured and watching the others in him back also being tortured.

  7. I don’t see it actually being the government unless there were fae or vampires in the government. I honestly think its going to be either someone we would never have expected or there will be a new enemy brought out in this book. last book had gods and went places we didn’t expect it to go, but made total sense. Plus mercey doesn’t know everything about herself just yet so there’s a lot more we haven’t seen just yet. so im sticking to unexpected or brand new enemy.

    • forgot about the second part of the question. clearly tortured, since theres so many different ways of that happening…. his physical pain, packs pain, possible death of someone in pack, worry over mercy and Jessie, helplessness that he is alpha and was caught and couldn’t protect his pack and family, that he could done things different, def pissed off it happened all together. plus he clearly knows that mercy will come after them whether he like it or not and worries a lot bout that. maybe there will also be a time when none of them can feel eachother at all.

  8. My guess is that the government has had enough and has taken them. They could possibly want them in order to experiment or find out more of what makes a werewolf. I do agree, however, it could be someone we don’t even know yet or someone completely unexpected to throw us for a twist!

  9. What do you think has happened to Adam and the pack? Why are they in pain and who has them?
I think maybe an Anti-Werewolf group got ahold of the experimental drugs from Moon Called and used them to capture the pack. The drugs contain silver and that is whats causing the pack pain.

  10. ‘What do you think has happened to Adam and the pack? Why are they in pain and who has them?’

I think that a previously unseen supernatural creature (demons(outside of possession) or fallen angels, or anything of the European variety) has taken them and has put them in a dream-like state where they are living their worst nigtmare, the worst thing they can ever imagine happening to them, their worst fears…all because the supernatural creatures feeds on nightmares/fear/pain.

  11. The government aspect when it comes to the pact is interesting and I can see happening…. Or maybe a powerful fae?

Can’t wait to read this book!

  12. I think the vampires took them because they don’t like having other powerful creatures around. There has always been distrust between the weres and the vamps in the Mercy Thompson series.

  13. “What do you think has happened to Adam and the pack? Why are they in pain and who has them?”

I’m thinking either the fae or the goverment. After what happened in the spin off series Alpha & Omega Fair Game, I think either group are trying to get the werewolves on their side through any means necessary.

Thanks for the giveaway! Love, love, love this book series.

  14. I think one of the fae(Grey Lords) took them. They’re trying to coerce the wolves into siding with the fae against the government.

  15. I think the vampires have Adams pack. They figured out how to use the silver darts to inject then with that drug that works on were-wolf.
